Lubbock, known as the “The Hub City”, is situated at the center of the scenic South Plains, between the Permian Basin and Texas Panhandle.  Lubbock covers more than 125 square miles and is home to 250,000 residents who enjoy the opportunities of a major metropolitan area with the friendly hospitality and charm of a small community.

The City of Lubbock is a Home Rule city operating with a Council-Manager form of government.  Lubbock seeks a creative, innovative leader and strategic thinker to be its new Business Development Director.  The Business Development Director will recommend and implement marketing strategies to identify and attract new target retail, commercial, and industrial business and is required to have a thorough knowledge of leading-edge marketing techniques and economic development principles.

The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred, and must have an additional five to seven years of responsible experience in management, downtown redevelopment, or economic development.  Any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills required will be considered.  Demonstrated knowledge of business and development practices and problems, municipal government functions, and special districts is preferred.
