The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and review all operations of the department and ensure the proper and efficient operation of all activities. Supervise, regulate and manage all functions which include suppression, prevention, training, hazardous materials, communications, emergency management, inspection, investigation and personnel development. This is accomplished by developing and administering policies and procedures, developing succession plans, controlling stationing and transferring of all personnel, classifying the fire service in conformance with all ordinances, reorganizing the department as necessary, commanding major emergency incidents, preparing and presenting budgets, reviewing and approving equipment and apparatus specifications, directing the preparation and analysis of records and reports, directing training activities, forecasting and monitoring revenues and expenditures. Other duties include coordinating activities with other departments and representing the city on boards and commissions.
