The City of Copperas Cove, Texas, is located in southern Coryell County, adjacent to Fort Hood, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and Farm Road 116, twenty-four miles southwest of Gatesville. The City operates under the council-manager form of government. There are eight City Council members, including the Mayor. The City hires a professional City Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the organization and its departments. Those reporting directly to the City Manager include the Parks & Recreation Director/Deputy City Manager, Interim Budget Director, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Director of Financial Services, Human Resources Director, Public Information Officer, Information Systems Director, Director of Planning, and Court Clerk.

The City seeks an innovative, visionary City Manager with experience in a full-service city and an in-depth understanding of municipal operations. The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, political science, business management, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. At least five years of experience as a municipal administrator is required. A valid Texas drivers license and a good driving record are required. The selected candidate must be bondable and must complete the TxDOT Local Government Project Procedures Training within one (1) year of hire date and re-train every three (3) years.
