The City of Temple seeks an energetic and dynamic leader who embraces a customer service philosophy to serve as its new Assistant Director of Public Works-Utilities. Under general direction, the Assistant Director of Public Works-Utilities acts as the executive manager of the utility department and assumes full management responsibility for utility department functions, programs, and operations, including the City’s water, wastewater, reclaim water, source water, and related operations, functions, and program areas. This key management position includes highly responsible work to deliver high quality service to utility customers while protecting public health. The Assistant Director of Public Works-Utilities is responsible for compliance with all aspects of state and federal regulatory standards, enforcing safety policies, and other miscellaneous duties. The Assistant Director serves as a backup to the Director of Public Works in his or her absence.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in science and have four years of experience in a related field. Ten years of experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree. Sufficient financial experience to manage a water and wastewater utility and supervisory experience, including principles necessary for successful business management, are required. A Texas Commission on Environmental Quality issued Class A Water and / or Wastewater License and a valid drivers’ license, or the ability to obtain these licenses, are requirements for this position.
