The City of Portland seeks a solution-oriented, innovative, and influential professional to serve as its new Manager of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a big picture focus who has the skills and experience needed to develop staff, help the City achieve its vision, and take the organization to the next performance level.  This position will provide direction in all functional areas of the Human Resources Department including but not limited to risk management, performance management, recruitment, employment benefits, leave programs, employee relations and coordination of training and employee development programs.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human resource management, public or business administration, or a closely related field and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience are required.  Previous experience working within a municipality is strongly preferred.  Must possess a relevant professional certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-CP, or equivalent).

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications.  In addition to the base salary, the City pays certification pay, advanced education pay, and longevity pay.  The City of Portland offers a generous benefits package that includes paid health, dental, life, disability insurance, retirement, vacation, sick leave and holidays.
