Irving, Texas is centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth and is home to more than 256,684 residents. The Irving Municipal Court is committed to providing excellent service and professionalism to the community through its dedication to the fair and timely processing of class C misdemeanor offenses. The Court is staffed by 36 FTEs and has an annual operating budget of $4.2 million (General Fund and Special Revenue Funds). The Irving Municipal Court staff works closely with two full-time judges and three prosecutors to ensure cases are properly adjudicated and accurately updated. Approximately 48,000 new cases are filed annually by the Irving Police Department, Code Enforcement, Animal Services, Irving Fire Department, Water Department, DFW Airport, and Northlake College.
The ideal Municipal Court Director candidate must have strong leadership skills, be highly motivated, and be able to make sound business decisions using available data. The candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees, residents, and the city council. A strong commitment to working with other departments to achieve departmental and city-wide goals is imperative. Additionally, the candidate should have a good working knowledge of applicable Texas statutes related to the filing, processing, and closure of cases in a Texas municipal court.
A Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.B.A., or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, and/or Public Administration is required. Must have ten (10) years of related experience, with at least five (5) years in a supervisory capacity.
The City of Irving offers a competitive salary of $123,576 - $174,240 dependent upon qualifications and experience.
