Comprised of three staffing groups — Engineering, Planning, and Airport — the Development Services Division offers a variety of services that preserve and enhance the quality of life for those who visit, live, and work in the Klamath Falls community. Under the City Manager’s direction, the Development Services Director leads, plans, directs, integrates, and coordinates the operations of the Development Services Department. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and innovative leader who enjoys working with stakeholders throughout the community to ensure exceptional quality of life. The right fit for this position will be personable and collaborative, a director with an open-door policy who fosters creativity and invests time and attention into their staff just as they do into the City’s needs. Elected leaders would also like to see someone with an impressive breadth and depth of knowledge who has experience guiding tough conversations and building  consensus in decision-making.
 
The position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, land use planning, engineering, or a closely related field and a minimum of eight years of practical experience — or a master’s degree in a related field with three years of professional experience. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners is a plus; and experience in local government, economic development, and working with an airport is preferred. Please note that any equivalent combination of education, professional licenses/certifications, and experience may be considered.  Employees establishing residency in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days.
 
The City of Klamath Falls is offering a salary of $114,876 to $159,012 for this position, depending on experience and qualifications.
