Are you a community-focused leader with a passion for public engagement, strategic communication, and placemaking? The City of Elgin, Texas, is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Community Services to oversee Parks & Recreation, Library Services, Main Street/Downtown Development, and Public Information. This executive role also serves as the City’s Public Information Officer, supporting communications, events, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, political science, or related field (required)
  • At least 7 years of senior-level executive experience
  • Minimum 4 years in municipal government administration
  • Strong financial and team management background

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • TAMIO Certified Public Communicator
  • Experience in public information, marketing, or municipal communications

The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative leader with strong interpersonal and project management skills. They are passionate about cultivating civic pride, preserving cultural identity, and building inclusive community programs.

Located just 20 miles east of Austin, Elgin offers a vibrant arts scene, historic downtown, and over 45 annual public events.
